ARIZONA “TUFF
TEST” BULL STATION
This is a display at Ariz. National. Plans were made to use the west side for horse development. The sign on the hillside
below is seen along Hwy 60
The west side is seen here and plans were to have horses fed and worked around barn or in arena area. They would climb to upper water drinkers. This area was used to grow heifers as seen here. These heifers are going down to water.
This shows residence with end of bull test pens on your right and part of the horse development trails area on the left. Power fence was installed to control horse development area pens and trails. Residence is 3 bd 1 ˝ bath with apartment/office with shower on east end.
The pasture can be sprinkled or developed for an arena etc. This view shows bottom land and east end of the bull test pens.
We develop and test bulls “BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE”. “TUFF TEST” BULL STATION started testing bulls in 1979 as a marketing tool for our own bulls.. Bulls watered below and climbed up to feed levels for the test ration.
Top of pen # 1.
Pen #1 middle section shows steep rocky surface. All fences were erected with rocks found near by. Background of photo shows area for equine development and training.
Pen # 1 with a long steep climb was used for Brahma crosses. Pens are large enough to exercise the bulls and fighting etc are seldom a problem.
Some pens are solid rock. These bulls will climb back up for test ration.
Pen #4 feed level at sale time. Feed level dries quickly on the south slope. Consignors have shipped bulls from lower hot climates even though test starts in winter. South slope makes it warm enough to test them without problems.
Consignors brought us about all breeds and different crosses.
West end of feed level one.
Down hill view of pens in this west side. Bull is climbing up to feeder after watering below.
Another view of pens with shorter climb looking up to the feed level. Bulls are able to find a spot if they need to escape aggressiveness.

Summer ranges for our mother cows in the Nutrioso area. We used AI on all cows and heifers.
Cow herd was about 40-50 head. With “Tuff Test” and AI our bull and replacement heifer sales helped us be profitable.
This is the garden area below the barn with pasture land in the background. There is a well that produced 300 gal/min just past the trees on right hand side. Our well is 75/gal/min with 5hp set at 100ft. The wind mill is out of picture on the right.
This Juniper is found in the canyon on the west boundary. It is probably around 200 yrs old. It has been untouched in the canyon. The hillsides are dotted with smaller Juniper trees.
